Family Health & Birth Center (formerly the District of Columbia
Birth Center) - a freestanding birth center staffed by midwives. continuity
of care is assured through the services of certified nurse-midwives (CNMs)
and pediatric nurse-practitioners (PNPs). CNMs provide prenatal, labor
and delivery, postpartum, and gynecological services, attending births
at the Center and at Washington Hospital Center, where they have a consulting
relationship with the OB/GYN Staff. Metro Area Midwives & Allied Services (M.AM.A.S). Midwives Mairi Breen Rothman, CNM and Erin Fulham, CNM, provide home birth services in the District of Columbia.
